Governor Adeleke Interrupts APC Leader’s Ramadan Lecture In Iree.
The 2024 Ramadan Lecture organised by the former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Adebayo Adeleke (BANIK) was nearly interrupted on Thursday, as the Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke reportedly ordered that the organizer should not be given access to the venue even after taking approval from the government.
The organizing committee had earlier sought approval from the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) and the board has subsequently conveyed the approval back to the committee through the Principal of AUD Primary School, Iree where the event was slated to hold.
However, when every arrangement had been concluded for the programme to commence on Thursday morning, the Chairman of the LCDA, Jamiu Adedokun stormed the venue with armed men directing the dismantling of the stages and canopies already erected for the event.
Adedokun said that no access would have been given to the venue at all, if he had known before, saying he had the directive of Governor Adeleke that BANIK should not be allowed to do such programme anywhere in the State .
Giving the reason for his action, the council caretaker chairman said, BANIK has always been too critical of the Adeleke’s administration in the state, “saying, he always tackles our government and making the administration uncomfortable.
“I have the directive from the Governor that this programme should not hold here and even if you have been given approval, the approval is been withdrawn now and your money will be transferred back to you”, Jamiu boasted.
The chairman of the organizing committee, recounted that in the course of the heated argument, “the LGEA woman to whom the rent was paid made a refund immediately , as the council chairman, deliberately ignored the phone call of the Chief Imam of Iree who has offered to appeal to him.
