Tinubu Appointee, Omowaiye, Launches IleriOluwa Fuel/Food Support for Commercial Motorists, Others

Engr. Oluremi Omowaiye, Executive Director (Projects Implementation) at the Federal Housing Authority, has initiated a fuel support programme to alleviate the suffering of commercial motorists amidst the ongoing fuel crisis. The programme, tagged, IleriOluwa Fuel Support, aims to provide free Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) to selected commercial motorists, tricyclists, and motorcyclists in Ife/Ijesa senatorial district, will go side-by-side with massive food palliative distribution planned for the same period.

The programme will commence on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, in Ilesa, Ife, Modakeke, Ijebu-jesa, and Iperindo, with additional beneficiaries in Osu, Ifewara, and Ibokun. The free fuel initiative, alongside the food palliatives, will run until the end of the year for the 1st phase.

Omowaiye, former Commissioner for Works and Transport in Osun State, has a history of similar philanthropic gestures over the past seven years. He believes this fuel support as well as free food distribution, will ease economic hardship and urges well-meaning Nigerians, including state governors and President Tinubu's appointees, to develop poverty alleviation programmes to enliven hope of Nigerians.

Omowaiye acknowledges the challenges posed by the fuel subsidy removal but emphasizes its necessity, as the country could no longer sustain the subsidy regime. He expresses confidence in President Tinubu's efforts to bring relief to Nigerians.

Leaders across political divides must rise to the occasion to bring hope and relief to the people. This is not the time to play petty politics. State Governors as a matter of necessity and responsibility should appropriate increased revenue judiciously to work for the citizens in their domains. The significant increase in the federal allocation occasioned by the fuel subsidy removal should be made to address economic difficulties currently faced by the people," Omowaiye
