As the Burial rites of Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesaland, Oba Dr. Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II, continue, traditional chiefs in Ijesaland, accompanied by traditional worshippers, embarked on another passage rite for the late paramount ruler with the declaration of a 4-hour mini curfew at the popular Roundabout area of Ilesa.
Speaking with newsmen prior to the traditional procession, the Losare of Isare, Chief Oluwaseun Balogun noted that the ritual was put in place to offer prayers to the gods of the land following the demise of the late monarch and to seek intervention on the selection of a new Owa.
Chief Balogun added that the prayer was significant for the progress and development of Ijesaland.
They invoked gods to deal with anyone that may attempt to influence the selection process to the detriment of the development of the land.
Anybody who tries to sabotage the
new Owa's selection process will be punished by God, according to the
traditional worshipers.
However, prayers were offered for Ijesa and its indigene as the worshippers performed different rites, while all economic business centres remained shut down.
It would be recalled that the late Owa Aromolaran II joined his ancestors on September 11, 2024, at age 86.
