𝗦𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗘𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗲 𝗢𝘀𝘂𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲 𝗔𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗪𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗽𝘀𝗲
About seven inmates have escaped from the Medium Security Custodial Center in ilesa ,Osun State, following the collapse of part of the prison wall.
The incident, which occurred today, created an opportunity for the prisoners to flee the premises undetected.
Radio Nigeria Correspondent reports that the it was uncertain if the collapse was triggered by environmental factors or was intentionally orchestrated.
Confirming the incident, The Controller General of Corrections, CGC, Sylvester Nwakuche, through the Deputy Controller of Corrections / Public Relations Officer, Umar Abubakar said the facility had launched an expansive manhunt following the rainfall that breached the security of its facility in ilesa.
Controller Nwakuche has also ordered an immediate investigation into the circumstances surrounding the escape.
He assured that The service is working closely with sister security agencies as well as community leaders to recapture the escapees and bring them back to custody.
The Statement reads " However, the Service solicits the cooperation and support of the public in providing information that may lead to the recapture of the fleeing inmates.
