OSUN PDP SUSPENDS ALL PARTY MEETINGS OVER NATIONAL CRISIS

PRESS RELEASE

The Osun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the suspension of all party meetings across the state, following the brewing crisis within the national leadership of the party and the suspension of four key national officers.

At its 608th meeting held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) suspended the following national officers for one month and referred them to the National Disciplinary Committee for further investigation:
 • Senator Samuel Anyanwu – National Secretary
 • Hon. Umar Bature – National Organizing Secretary
 • Barr. Kamaldeen Ajibade, SAN – National Legal Adviser
 • Barr. Okechukwu Osuoha – Deputy National Legal Adviser

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Osun State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Hon. Ayodeji Areola, said the state chapter resolved to put all meetings on hold from the ward, local government, and senatorial district levels up to the state level pending further clarification and directives from the national leadership.

“In view of the unfolding situation at the national level and the temporary suspension of key party officials, the Osun State Working Committee hereby suspends all party meetings across the state until further notice. This step is taken in the best interest of the party to maintain harmony, discipline, and unity among members,” the statement read in part.

Hon. Areola urged party members to remain calm and loyal to the ideals of the PDP, assuring that the current challenges would be resolved through due process and internal reconciliation mechanisms.

“The Osun PDP appreciates the steadfastness of all our members and calls on them to refrain from actions or utterances that could aggravate the situation. The party remains united under the leadership of Governor Ademola Adeleke, and we are confident that the ongoing issues at the national level will be amicably resolved,” he added.
