Osun 2026: Oyebamiji emerges APC guber candidate...says 'I am fully prepared for the job to elevate standard of living of Osun residents'
On Saturday, 1,660 elected delegates of the All Progressives Congress, APC of the Osun State governorship primary election duly affirmed the candidature of Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji ( AMBO) in Osogbo, the capital city of Osun State.
The delegates who were elected five from each of the 332 wards across the state unanimously affirmed the consensus aspirant - AMBO- as the party flagbearer.
This is even as Oyebamiji declared his preparedness to lead the party to victory and champion general welfare and well-being of the people of the state when elected Governor.
In his acceptance speech, Oyebamiji said he's committed to elevating the standard of living of every Osun resident by alleviating poverty, eradicating hunger, and promoting a functional education system for all.
Oyebamiji expressed great concerns on the state of health system in the state which he said had become moribund, noting that if elected Governor, his administration would not only revitalise the health sector but equally reduce the need for medical tourism.
"The welfare of the populace and communal peace and progress are paramount to our party, as they foster an environment where opportunity abounds and innovation flourishes. As your candidate in the 2026 governorship election, I assure you that I am fully prepared for the job, and God willing, we will make our leaders and the good people of Osun State proud", Oyebamiji assured.
Oyebamiji extended hands of fellowship to co-contenders to join him in winning the next governorship election and return the party - APC- to government next year.
Oyebamiji commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Chief Adebisi Akande, Adegboyega Oyetola, Minister Marine and Blue Economy, National Working Committee of the APC, Chairman and members of the Osun State APC primary election committee led by Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo and Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, APC state Chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, Osun APC Elders' Forum led by Engr Sola Akinwumi, leaders and members of the party, among others, for the trust reposed in him to fly the party's flag.
In his remarks, Chairman, Osun APC Primary Election Committee and Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo expressed delight in the reign of unity within the party in the state.
"What we have witnessed in Osun State is unity of purpose: unity that strengthens us ahead of the main gubernatorial election. Let me emphasize that victory in 2026 can only be achieved when we stand as one: one party, one family, one unstoppable force committed to reclaiming Osun State and restoring progress, stability, and prosperity.
"To the 1,660 delegates gathered here today, I salute your dedication. You represent the heartbeat of our internal democracy. Your presence here to affirm our candidate shows loyalty, responsibility, and commitment to the future of Osun State. We thank you for answering the call of duty.
"Let me stress the importance of ensuring that Osun State remains strongly connected to the Federal Government. A government aligned with the center attracts greater development, federal projects, economic support, and opportunities for its people. By uniting behind our candidate, AMBO, Osun State positions itself to fully benefit from federal programmes and from the Renewed Hope vision driving national transformation.
"Under the Renewed Hope Agenda, Mr President has initiated numerous projects, reforms, and economic interventions that are reshaping our nation. These efforts deserve our full support, not just today but as we look ahead to the 2027 general election. We must stand firmly behind Mr President to ensure continuity, stability, and national progress", he added.
