Criminal Case Rocks Osun Govt Lawyer As APC Commends Osun People For Foiling Grand Plot To Destroy Local Govt Democracy

PRESS STATEMENT.
(18TH JANUARY, 2026).

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has applauded the indomitable spirit, courage and democratic consciousness of the people of Osun State for standing with the party to resist the descent of the state into anarchy, lawlessness and political banditry orchestrated by the Governor Ademola Adeleke-led government in cahoot with his controversial lawyer, Chief Mike Ozehkome, SAN, over the control of the local government administration

The people’s resistance effectively frustrated a grand and well-orchestrated plot to overthrow the rule of law at the grassroots and replace it with executive impunity, judicial manipulation and political rascality.

The crisis was ignited by the state government’s willful and arrogant refusal to obey the binding judgment of the Court of Appeal, Akure, delivered on the 10th February 2025, which unequivocally reinstated the duly elected APC local government chairmen and councillors.

Rather than comply with the judgment, the Adeleke administration chose the ignoble path of rebellion against constitutional order.

This reckless adventure was embarked upon on the *bolekaja*, irresponsible and evil legal counsel of the government’s lawyer, Chief Ozekhome, a man now facing criminal charges for alleged corruption and forgery of documents.

A three-count charge has been filed against Chief Ozekhome by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) following an investigation triggered by a 2025 judgment of a London First-Tier Tribunal concerning a property located at 79 Randall Avenue, London NW2 7SX.

The ICPC alleges that Ozekhome forged a Nigerian passport in Abuja in August 2021 in the name of Shani Tali to fraudulently support a claim of ownership over the London property and subsequently used the forged document as genuine to advance the same claim.

It is tragic that Osun State was handed over to legal mercenaries whose stock-in-trade is forum shopping, judicial ambush and contempt for judicial hierarchy.

If not for the vigilance and resistance of the Osun people, Ozekhome and his ilk would have completed the destruction of local government democracy by foisting on the state imposters, rif-raffs, scoundrels and sit-at-home clowns, produced through a widely rejected and illegal kangaroo local government election conducted in February 2025, in blatant defiance of a subsisting appellate court judgment.

These boisterous clowns were not elected by the people but manufactured by executive recklessness and sustained through judicial manipulation, all in a desperate bid to supplant the rule of law with the rule of impunity.

The unfolding criminal allegations against  Ozekhome, as filed by the ICPC, have only exposed the rotten foundation upon which the Adeleke administration erected its defiance of the law.
Although  the senior lawyer remains entitled to the presumption of innocence, we are of the view and conviction that the allegations have further discredited the legal advice that plunged Osun State into constitutional embarrassment before the entire country.

It takes a government that holds the judiciary in utter contempt to ignore a Court of Appeal judgment and instead roam the country in search of pliant lower courts to issue conflicting orders. This was not governance; it was constitutional vandalism.

We are warning Governor Adeleke that governance is not a carnival and the law is not a toy to be twisted to suit executive whims and that Osun State cannot progress on the foundation of lawlessness, deception and judicial rascality.

We, once again, salute the people of Osun State for standing on the side of justice, constitutionalism and democratic sanity, while we are assuring you that history will remember your courage as the force that stopped the complete hijack of local government administration by the imposters and enemies of the rule of law.
