New Year: Obokun LG Boss, Maaroof Ogundipe Reassures of Pro-People Governance, Grassroots Development in 2026

The Chairman of Obokun Local Government, Engr. Maaroof Kayode Ogundipe, has extended New Year greetings to the people of Obokun, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to people-oriented governance and accelerated grassroots development in 2026.

Ogundipe in his new year message described the New Year as a defining period to deepen democratic dividends at the local level, stressing that his leadership remains firmly aligned with progressive ideals and the broader vision of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to deliver good governance and inclusive development.
According to him, 2026 will witness intensified investment in grassroots infrastructure, improved welfare for workers, enhanced security of lives and property, youth empowerment, better education through recruitment of qualified teachers and strengthened social interventions targeted at women, artisans, traders, farmers and vulnerable groups across Obokun.

“Our administration will continue to put the people first. We are resolute in ensuring that the dividends of democracy are felt in every ward and community,” Ogundipe stated. “The trust reposed in us by the people of Obokun will be justified through transparent leadership, accountable governance and visible development at the grassroots.”

He called on party leaders, stakeholders and residents to remain united and supportive of the local government, noting that political stability and collective responsibility are essential to sustaining development.

"I call on our people to continue in their support for our administration, local government autonomy is here, the implication is more money is now available for grassroot development, we will judiciously ensure that the impact of the autonomy is positively felt across board in the local government, ours is a government driven by passion for quality service delivery" the council boss stated.

The council boss further assured the people that his administration will work in synergy every important agency of government to advance policies and programmes that will uplift Obokun and position the local government for greater prosperity in the New Year.
