“We Have Kickstarted the Process For Payment Of Salary Arrears to Royal Fathers” — Obokun LG Boss, Maaroof Ogundipe…outlines 2026 plans for grassroots development in the LGA

The Chairman of Obokun Local Government Area, Engr. Maaroof Ogundipe, has announced that his administration has commenced the process for the payment of outstanding salary arrears owed to royal fathers across the council area.

Ogundipe made this known while receiving representatives of the Obokun Royal Council, in persons of their Royal Majesties, the Akimo of Ikimo and the Alahun of Ilahun, at the local government secretariat upon the resumption of local government staffs on January 5th, 2026, stressing that the welfare of traditional rulers remains a priority for his administration, given their critical role in maintaining peace, unity, and grassroots governance.
According to the council boss, the payment process is already underway, with assurances that all legitimate arrears will be cleared in phases as part of a broader commitment to restore dignity and strengthen the relationship between the local government and traditional institutions.

“Our royal fathers are partners in progress. We have kickstarted the process of settling their outstanding entitlements because we recognize their sacrifices and the stabilizing role they play in our communities,” Ogundipe said.

Beyond the arrears payment, the chairman also unveiled key focus areas for Obokun LGA in 2026, describing the new year as one dedicated to inclusive and people-oriented development. He highlighted plans to scale up infrastructure projects, improve primary healthcare delivery, invest in basic education, and expand youth empowerment and women-focused initiatives.

Ogundipe further emphasized that his administration would prioritize rural road rehabilitation, agricultural support for farmers, and targeted social interventions aimed at improving living standards at the grassroots.

He called on residents, community leaders, and traditional rulers to continue supporting the local government’s development agenda, assuring them of transparency, accountability, and purposeful leadership.

The announcement has been welcomed by stakeholders who see the move as a positive step toward rebuilding trust and ensuring sustainable development across Obokun Local Government Area.
