AUGUST 15TH POLL: Probe IBK Fadipe Over Alleged Plot To Arm Thugs- Osun APC Tasks Police, DSS... Seeks Reopening Of 2010 Murder Case Of Late DHL Chairman, Komolafe, Others

PRESS STATEMENT.
 (15TH MARCH, 2026).

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on the Inspector-General of Police and the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS) to urgently invite the Chairman of the Osun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Mr Ibukun Fadipe (popularly known as IBK), over an alleged plot to rig the forthcoming August 15 governorship election in แปŒsun State through the use of political hoodlums and violent cult members in Ijesaland.

Information available to our party indicates that Fadipe last week, convened a secret meeting where about thirty suspected hoodlums and cult members were allegedly empowered with cash ranging from ₦500,000 to ₦1,000,000 each with the aim of procuring arms and ammunition ahead of the election.

Some of the hoodlums reportedly in attendance at the said meeting include:

1. Femi Agogo – a.k.a. Agogo Ija
2. Nanni Williams – a.k.a. Nanni
3. Teslim Uzamot – a.k.a. Tessy
4. Segun Olatunde
Mathew Fadare
5. Ali Basit – a.k.a. Basty.

The group was allegedly coordinated by their cult leaders, Sanmi Famokunwa (a.k.a. Big Sam) and Hon. Wale Akerele (a.k.a. Water), a member of the Osun State House of Assembly representing Ilesa-West State Constituency.

Disturbingly, the consequences of this alleged mobilization appear to have already manifested in Ede where, barely a day after the said meeting, thugs unleashed terror on the members of the APC during the flag-off ceremony of a multi-purpose shopping complex in the ancient town.
The attack created tension and panic and further confirms the growing fear that some elements within the state government are preparing the ground for violence as the election approaches.

In addition, we are  imploring the Inspector-General of Police to re-open the 2010 murder cases linked to Mr. Ibukun Fadipe.

The cases involve the deaths of Otunba Raheem Ade Komolafe, the Chairman of DHL and a prominent chieftain of the then Action Congress, as well as Hon. Agboola Obadare.

Otunba Komolafe reportedly died following the injuries he sustained during a senseless assault allegedly carried out by Ibukun Fadipe and his thugs at a time when he served as the Chairman of the Ilesa-West Local Government Council Area.

Following the incident, Fadipe reportedly went into hiding for fear of arrest before he was eventually apprehended by law enforcement agents.

Although he was arraigned before a court of law, the case reportedly took a political turn and was abruptly swept under the carpet.

Given the seriousness of these allegations, the Inspector-General of Police, the National Security Adviser and the Director-General of the DSS must also investigate the strange circumstances that led to the sudden collapse of the murder cases against Fadipe.

Of particular concern are emerging revelations suggesting that certain government documents, including a Nigerian international passport and immigration entry and exit stamps, may have been manipulated or doctored in a bid to shield him from prosecution.

We believe that these troubling developments must not be ignored, especially at a time when Osun State is approaching a crucial governorship election.

It is becoming increasingly clear that the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke has lost credibility and the firm grip it once claimed to have on the people of the state.

With the reality of the electoral defeat staring it in the face, the government appears willing to resort to desperate measures, including arming criminals capable of killing, maiming and destroying lives and property in a bid to retain power.

The people of Osun State are already tired of the kick-and-start government of Adeleke and as the August 15 governorship election approaches, the citizens of the state are eagerly waiting for the opportunity to democratically vote out the bumbling governor and usher in responsible leadership.

We, therefore, urge the nation’s security agencies to act swiftly and decisively to prevent any attempt to plunge the state into violence and to ensure that the forthcoming election is conducted in a peaceful, credible and transparent manner.
