Edenization Agenda: It Will Haunt Your Government Till Extinction- Osun APC Berates Adeleke
PRESS STATEMENT. (2ND MARCH, 2026)
The lopsided nature of the political appointments made by Governor Ademola Adeleke in favour of the natives of his town, Ede, has been one of the albatrosses of his administration that will continue to haunt the fast dwindling government that is winding up in eight months' time through the governorship election slated for the 15th of August, 2026.
This obvious anomaly in the making of the political appointments in favour of the governor's home town which is the first of its kind in the political history of the state has been the topic of discussions at both formal and informal meetings in all the other towns in the state.
Osun State is politically divided into 30 local government council areas and one Area Office located in Modakeke, part of the Ife-East Local Government Council Area of the state. The Ede portion constituting the hometown of the governor forms two local government council areas namely Ede-North and Ede-South.
Apart from the fact that Governor Adeleke has been brazenly concentrating the developmental projects in Ede, it is an undeniable fact that he has also sourced the majority of his key political appointees from the ancient town.
A credible information has it that no fewer than 3,000 Senior Special Assistants(SSAs), Personal Assistants(PAs) and Executive Assistants(EAs) and other secret appointments from Ede alone were brazenly made by Governor Adeleke.
How Governor Adeleke maliciously and wickedly ordered the removal of Dr. Niyi Oginni, the Executive Secretary of Osun Health Insurance Scheme(OHIS) and his counterpart in O'Ambulance and subsequently replaced them with his kinsmen from Ede is still fresh in the memory of the people of the state.
This has been a subject of condemnation of his government by the other towns that have been accusing the Accord Party governor of nepotism.
Apart from combining the Commissioner of Works to his schedule, Governor Adeleke also appointed one Engr. B.I. Bello, a native of Ede as the Permanent Secretary in charge of the State Ministry of Works who also functions as the Special Adviser to the governor on Works.
Adeleke's Chief of Staff, Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye who all along has been functioning as the governor's chaperon, and has also lately been in the eye of the storm over his alleged involvement in the N13.7 billion payroll scandal rocking the Adeleke administration, also hails from Ede.
It is verifiably on record that Governor Adeleke appointed his inexperienced nephew barely fresh from the university, Tunji Adeleke Jnr, as the Chairman of the State Local Government Commission which hitherto was the exclusive preserve of the experienced
indigenes of the state.
Apart from the day he was sworn in, Tunji is rarely sighted in the state while the performance of his job schedule has been left in the hands of some civil servants who have been taking the undue advantage of the laxity.
Governor Adeleke also strangely appointed his late brother's wife, Mrs. Adenike Adeleke as the substantive Commissioner for Federal Affairs permanently posted to Abuja while one Alhaji Morufu Adeleke is the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning.
One Lanre Laoye was appointed the Vice-Chairman of the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC) while Mr. Kolade Adeleke also bagged the chairmanship of the Osun Tourism Board. They both hail from Ede.
The other Permanent Secretaries and Technical Heads who are the natives of Ede appointed by Governor Adeleke apart from Engr. B.I. Bello of the Ministry of Works are: Alhaji Adekilekun Fatai Tijani; Permanent Secretary, Local Government Loans Board and Alhaji Akibu Ibrahim; Permanent Secretary, Pension Board.
The Edenization agenda of the key sectors of the state by Governor Adeleke is a continuous process while his sack and humiliation of the Ode-Omu-born Rector of the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree and his replacement by a native of Ede to the consternation of the right-thinking members of the society is still reverberating in their subconscious minds.
The brouhaha generated by the anomalous relocation of the Industrial Park from Osogbo to Ede; relocation of the age-long Osun State Airport from Ido-Osun to the backyard of the Adelekes country home, Aisu, Ede; reflection of Ogo Oluwa, Osogbo showing Ede on Google maps and the avoidable cataclysm that the expansionist tendency brewed under the Adeleke government over the Halleluyah community, Osogbo, during the crowning of their monarch is still fresh in the memory of the discerning members of the public.
The uneventful political journey of four years of Governor Adeleke is gradually coming to an end with a lot of unfavourable incidents that have brought a glaring set back to the State of the Virtuous which would be fixed by the forward looking and workaholic Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji(AMBO), the APC incoming state governor by the virtue of the 15th August, governorship election.
