Ayeni Declares Bid For Ijesa South Federal Constituency Seat In 2027


Honourable Lawrence Babatunde Ayeni (FMHR) has formally declared his intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections, representing the Ijesa South Federal Constituency.
   

 The declaration took place at his foundation office, where a large crowd of supporters, party faithful, and political associates gathered in a show of solidarity. The event drew hundreds of attendees, who accompanied the former lawmaker in a procession to the residence of a prominent APC Ijesa South leader, Pa Kunle Odeyemi, the venue of the official declaration.
At the gathering, which included party leaders, stakeholders, and political stalwarts from across the constituency, several notable figures were present, including Elder Oni; High Chief Disu Oyedele (Salotun); High Chief Ajeleti; Hon. Ademola Phillips; Hon. Wale Adedoyin; Hon. Fafowora; Hon. Babatunde Festus Komolafe; Hon. Gboyega Oyewunmi; Hon. Oyewunmi Banjo; Barr. Yomi Ojo; Hon. Faleye; Hon. Oluwole Olusesi; Hon. Akinyele Akinola (ANFAANI FOR ALL); Hon. Sayo Abimbola; Hon. Agbeti; Hon. Adagunodo; Hon. Kola Obeta; Hon. Bola Falade; Hon. Idowu Falade; as well as all Ijesa South APC party chairmen and women leaders.
Speaking at the event, Hon. L B Ayeni reaffirmed his commitment to public service, emphasizing his longstanding connection with the people and noting that he is widely known across Ijesa South and beyond. According to him, his years of dedication and loyalty to the party, coupled with his contributions to grassroots development, position him as a deserving candidate for the role. He noted that he has “paid his dues” and expressed confidence that his hard work and perseverance would be recognized by the party leadership.
   
Hon. L. B. Ayeni also reiterated his commitment to the AMBO governorship bid, calling on party members and supporters to work assiduously toward ensuring AMBO’s emergence in the party’s forthcoming process on August 15.
Several party leaders spoke in support of his aspiration. Hon. Alarape described Hon. L. B. Ayeni as a committed party man who remained steadfast even after previous electoral setbacks. He highlighted Ayeni’s generosity and consistent support for party activities, adding that it would be unjust if he is denied the party’s ticket.
High Chief Disu Oyedele (Salotun) also commended Ayeni’s record of service and offered prayers for his success, expressing hope that he would emerge as the party’s candidate for the National Assembly.
  
Hon. Kujembola, while acknowledging the competitive nature of the race—with about twelve aspirants vying for the position—noted that the final decision rests with party leaders. He also prayed for divine guidance in the process and for Ayeni’s aspirations to be fulfilled.
     
In his remarks, Pa Odeyemi appreciated the strong turnout of supporters and encouraged them to intensify grassroots mobilization efforts, particularly as August 15 approaches. He expressed personal confidence in Hon. L. B. Ayeni’s capability.
   

 The event concluded with prayers and renewed calls for unity within the party as the selection process draws nearer.
