Grassroots Security: Osun ALGON plans Distribution of 300 Motorcycles 10 Each Across 30 LGAs To Security Agencies

The Forum of the Council Chairmen in Osun State, under the umbrella of Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), has announced readiness to distribute 300 brand-new motorcycles to security agencies across the local governments in the state.

The Forum disclosed that 300 motorcycles popularly called Okada will be handed over to security agencies across the 30 local governments including Ife-East Area Office, Modakeke in few days time. 

ALGON averred that the initiative is aimed at strengthening and guaranteeing the security of lives and property of the people at the grassroots. 

The Forum, in a statement signed by  State ALGON Chairman, who doubled as Ifedayo Local Government Chairman, Hon. Samuel Idowu Abiodun, directed all the 30 Local Government Areas and Ife-East Area Office to begin the implementation of the initiative as part of efforts to complement the collective efforts of the security agents and apparatuses at the local level. 
According to the statement, the 300 newly-purchased motorcycles will be handed over to security formations in all the Local Government Areas as each Council will distribute 10 Motorcycles each to the security agencies including the Police, operatives of the DSS, Civil Defence Corps, Vigilante among others 

"This is to complement the efforts of the security agents across the local governments in the state. We are resolute and irrevocably committed to the safety of our people across the nooks and crannies hence the resolve to enhance communal security at the grassroots. 

"It is on record that since our reinstatement, we have shown clearly to the world our resolve to raise bar of governance at the grassroots no matter whose ox is gored, we shall continue to champion the cause of our people by guaranteeing the security of their lives and property; and as well ensuring their welfare and general well-being regardless of unnecessary distraction from the political interlopers", the statement added.

Osun ALGON commended the security agents for their high sense of professnalism, diligence and patriotism to quality service delivery. 

The statement reassured the people of the grassroots of safety and prioritization of their welfare and general well-being under the leadership of the council officials.
