Appeal For The Inclusion Of The Ikirun–Ogbomoso Road Project In The Federal Government's Infrastructure Plan -- Eko-Ende Action Council

The Eko-Ende Action Council warmly commends the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for approving major road projects across the South-West region, including the Gbongan–Osogbo and Ibadan–Iwo–Osogbo road projects, among several other critical infrastructural developments currently underway.

This bold commitment to infrastructure renewal is highly commendable, particularly as many of these roads had suffered decades of neglect and were in urgent need of rehabilitation.
We also extend our profound appreciation to the immediate past Governor of Osun State and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, His Excellency Adegboyega Oyetola, CON, for his invaluable efforts and commitment toward facilitating these significant federal interventions for the benefit of the people.

On behalf of the people of Eko-Ende and surrounding communities, the Eko-Ende Action Council respectfully appeals to the Federal Government to kindly consider the completion of the long-abandoned Ikirun–Ogbomoso Road Project.

The reconstruction of this strategic road commenced several years ago, with visible progress made, including the erection of bridge pillars. However, the project was unfortunately abandoned midway, leaving commuters and residents to endure immense hardship.

The continued neglect of this vital road has had severe socio-economic consequences for the numerous towns and villages along the corridor, most of whose residents depend heavily on farming and agricultural trade for their livelihood. The deplorable condition of the road has made transportation increasingly difficult, resulting in delays, financial losses, and the spoilage of perishable farm produce before they reach the markets.

We therefore humbly urge the Federal Government to include the Ikirun–Ogbomoso Road Project in the 2026–2027 federal infrastructure implementation plan.

The completion of this road will not only ease transportation and enhance connectivity but will also stimulate economic activities, strengthen agricultural value chains, and significantly improve the standard of living for thousands of citizens who rely on this critical route.

We remain hopeful that this passionate appeal will receive the urgent attention it deserves in the interest of equitable development and shared prosperity.
