15th May, 2026
Honourable Lawrence Babatunde Ayeni(FMHR), a frontline aspirant for the Ijesa South Federal Constituency seat has officially announced his withdrawal from participation in the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primary election scheduled to hold on Saturday, 16th May 2026.
The decision, according to Honourable Ayeni, followed extensive consultations with respected party leaders, political associates, and critical stakeholders across the state.
In a statement issued on Friday evening, Honourable Ayeni explained that the unity, cohesion and eventual victory of APC in the forthcoming Osun gubernatorial election remain far more important than personal ambition or individual interest.
“At this point , the victory of Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) must come before individual aspirations. This moment calls for sacrifice, maturity, and unwavering commitment to the progress of Osun APC,” he stated.
Honourable Ayeni emphasized that his decision was borne out of patriotism, loyalty to the progressive ideals of the APC, and a sincere desire to see the party emerge stronger, united, and victorious in the August gubernatorial election.
He specifically used the moment to thank the leader of the party in the state and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, HE Adegboyega Oyetola, for his political guidance and commitment to the success of the party in Osun State.
He reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the APC and pledged continuous support toward the success and growth of the party at all levels.
“I remain fully committed to the APC project and will continue to contribute meaningfully towards the collective success of our great party. I will double my effort and energize my political structure for the overall success of our party, first on August 15 during the governorship election, and in 2027 during the presidential and national assembly elections,” he added.
While expressing deep appreciation to his supporters, loyalists, and political associates for their sacrifices, encouragement, and steadfast support throughout his consultation and aspiration process, Honourable Ayeni appealed to them to remain calm, peaceful, and resolute.
He urged them not to lose faith in God’s divine purpose and timing.
