I Will Pay Salary Arrears Of Teachers, Health Workers Sacked In 2022 – Oyebamiji..,.Celebrates Osun-born LAUTECH Best Graduating Student*
The Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), has assured that his administration would reabsorb the 1,500 teachers and the 515 health workers who were illegally and unceremoniously sacked by the current administration in the state.
He not only assured of their reinstatement, Oyebamiji equally promised to facilitate the payment of their salary arrears as well as restoring respect and dignity to the public service.
The 1,500 teachers were part of the 2,500 teachers employed by the immediate past APC administration led by former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola. Since sacking of the teachers and health workers, the Adeleke government has not successfully recruited new workers to replace them.
Oyebamiji made this solemn promise on Tuesday in Osogbo during a strategic meeting with the affected workers.
The atmosphere at the venue of the meeting was electrifying as the excited sacked workers received the joyous assurance from the APC governorship candidate. The affected workers offered prayers for the success of AMBO as they expressed their willingness to support the gubernatorial ambition of the former Commissioner of Finance in the state.
On the same day, the APC governorship candidate met with the overall best graduating student of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomosho, Caleb Olugbenga Oladepo, a proud product of the public school system established and strengthened by previous APC administrations in the state.
Oladepo, from Ejigbo Local Government Area of the state, graduated with a First Class degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, an academic feat which has continued to attract widespread commendation.
Oyebamiji celebrated the excellence demonstrated by the young scholar, offering him a cash reward of One Million Naira Only ( N1 Million ) just as he used the occasion to encourage students across the state, particularly those from public schools, that with determination, discipline and hard work, they too can attain greatness in their academic pursuits.
The APC notes with concern that despite the positive attention and honour Oladepo has brought to Osun State through this remarkable achievement, the present state government has not deemed it fit to identify with or celebrate the trailblazer. This is in sharp contrast to the characteristic attitude of the governor who is often quick to seek media attention in celebrating winners in less profound endeavours.
Oyebamiji also used the occasion to appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC-led Federal Government for the installation and activation of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), a major financial intervention that came to the rescue of Oladepo at a critical moment in his academic journey.
Oladepo disclosed that he benefitted from the Federal Government student loan scheme for three years when he was on the verge of dropping out of school due to severe financial difficulties faced by his parents.
The APC governorship candidate further promised that upon becoming Governor of Osun State, his administration would activate policies that would make education affordable and pocket-friendly for all citizens of the state.
He expressed particular concern over what he described as cut-throat and exploitative school fees currently being charged in state-owned tertiary institutions, especially at the University of Ilesa (UNILESA) and Osun State University (UNIOSUN).
According to him, the N1.5 million school fees being charged in some programmes in the institutions are outrageous and beyond the reach of average citizens, assuring that his government would take drastic and practical steps to address the situation.
